Marathon County will implement a no-tow mode of operation from 3 p.m. today, Feb. 7, to 8 a.m. Feb. 8 because of the expected accumulation of snow.

That means no vehicle will be towed from a crash or the ditch unless it’s in the roadway or shoulder, or affects plowing operations.

Police agencies will still respond to crashes and cars in the ditch, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department. If a vehicle is left to be towed in the morning, the department will ask for that owner’s phone number and wrecker preference. Then, beginning at 8 a.m. Feb. 8, the department will call wrecker companies.

The department reminds everyone to turn your headlights on in adverse weather.
