UPDATE (9:18 a.m.) – Hwy 51 near State Rd 64 near Merrill in the town of Pine River is now completely re-opened although some delays may still be found as traffic resumes normal patterns, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

No information on the severity of the injuries involved in the crash has yet been released.

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wis. — US Hwy 51 is being shut down at State Rd 64 due to a crash with serious injury.

Lincoln County Sheriff Department are preparing to route traffic through the city of Merrill.

Multiple emergency vehicles remain on the scene of the traffic crash on US Hwy 51. At this time all northbound lanes have been reopened, but one lane remains closed on the southbound side.

A significant back up has occurred and anyone traveling south on US Hwy 51 will see delays. Lincoln County Sheriff Department expects to have the highway re-opened entirely in about one hour.
