Walter “Junior” Brendemuehl

Walter R. “Junior” Brendemuehl, 76, of Weston passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Atrium Birch Hill in Shawano.

Walter was born on Oct. 26, 1942, to the late Walter and Irene (Aschbrenner) Brendemuehl. After completing high school, Walter joined the National Guard and served his country honorably. On Feb. 4, 1967, Walter married the love of his life, Paulette Huffman. Together they raised two daughters, Wendy and Amy. After retiring as a crane operator, Walter went on to drive bus for the kids at D.C Everest. He truly enjoyed his time working with the children and loved it when they would tell him, “Goodbye, Mr. Walter.”

In his free time, Walter enjoyed going hunting and fishing, watching birds, going to auctions and carpentry work. After retirement, Walter found a love for cooking. He would find recipes online and try new spices. Paulette always came home to a home cooked meal. His love and laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Walter is survived by his loving wife, Paulette; daughters, Wendy (Robert) Sternberg and Amy (Josh) Unertl; grandchildren, Nikole (Justin Wester) Sternberg, Brittney (Bradley) Althoff, Travis (Rebecca) Unertl, and Taylor Unertl; great-granddaughter, Judith Wester; brothers, John (Inga), Eugene, Scott (Pam), Mike (Sue), and George (Renee) Brendemuehl; sister, Patricia (Robert) Fenhaus; mother-in-law, Lucille Huffman; brother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Huffman; sister-in-law’s, Pamela Huffman, Linda (Rodney) Neuendank and Nancy (James) Kalinke. Walter is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Roger Brendemuehl; and sister, Beverly Hack.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 503 Schmidt Ave, Rothschild. Pastor Richard Block will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau; and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the church. Michael M. Simonis, “Uncle Mike,” 92, of Wittenberg, formerly of Neenah, died on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of LeRoyer Hospice Services of Antigo.

Michael was born on Nov. 3, 1926, in Rosholt, the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Hintz) Simonis.
On May 29, 1948, Michael was united in marriage to Belva Mortson at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church, Rosholt. Since Belva’s death on Feb. 20, 2010, there was a sadness about Mike as it seemed like he was always missing something and we knew it was his beloved Belva. What joy it brings to know they are together again.
Mike was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, and held various positions in the Knights of Columbus. Mike worked at American Can and James River Corp. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Mike also enjoyed watching the Elderon BABA baseball games.
Survivors include his nephews, Gary (Bernie) Wyman of Elderon and Pete (Sue) Wyman of Baldwin, Kansas; niece, Mary Buss Wyman; great-nephews and great-nieces Ric Wyman, Rob (JoAnna) Wyman, Ross (Courtney) Wyman, Hali (John) Strand and Bekki (Ryan) Kaminski; six great-great nephews and nieces John and Henry Strand, Natalie and Ethan Wyman and Olive and Opal Kaminski and many other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Belva; parents; sisters, Gertrude, Beatrice and Elvina, and brothers, Erving, Ben and Ed, and a nephew, Dennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah. Fr. Joseph Mattern will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will be at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, in Evergreen Rest Cemetery, Elderon. Fr. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Elderon Memorial Post #8068 VFW.

Donna Westgor

Donna M. Westgor, 86, of Appleton, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

Donna was born on Oct. 21, 1932, to Frank and Mary (Turin) Motiff.

Her parents owned Motiff’s Home Bakery in Appleton where she worked next to her father, Frank, who she adored. After the bakery was sold and her parents retired, Donna started her next job at Lawrence University. Donna loved working with the students and also met her late husband, Chet Westgor, at the university.

Donna wanted to be remembered for her great love of all animals.

She is survived by her son, Hugh (Jeanne) Hamilton; step-granddaughter, Kayla (Ben) Vosters and great-grandson Bennett Vosters.

Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chet; parents, Frank and Mary, and numerous pets.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at the Highland Memorial Park Chapel in Appleton. Fr. Bill Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the chapel.
