Monday’s Marathon County Jail report shows an inmate who walked away last week from the facility is back in custody and facing potential new charges.

Akeem Jones, 21, is serving a sentence for criminal trespass to a dwelling that began July 22. On July 26, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department issued a plea to the public to help locate Jones, urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to call in a tip.

A search of online court records shows Jones has a lengthy criminal record that includes charges of fraud, theft, criminal trespassing and operating under the influence.

Jones is now facing new potential penalties and is due in court Monday afternoon on preliminary charges of escape, resisting an officer, and bail jumping. Police have not released any details about his capture.
