Nathan “Nate” Strobel
Nathan “Nate” Thomas Strobel passed away on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born Feb. 19, 1980, son of Tom and Carleen (Wilhelm) Strobel. He was engaged to Samantha Krause.
Nate graduated from Antigo High School in 1998, and the Wausau Technical College drafting program in 2000. His most recent job was at WJ Higgins and Associates. Nate loved hunting, fishing, flower gardening and his dog Daisy. He was an awesome father, cherished fiancé and beloved son, brother, grandson and friend.
Survivors include his parents, Tom and Carleen Strobel of Antigo; fiancée Samantha Krause of Wausau; his children, Sophie, Camden and Arlie Strobel; his sister, Danielle (Tony) Cayemberg of Green Bay; brother, Casey Strobel of Rhinelander; grandma, Millie Strobel; nieces, Adalyn Strobel and God-daughter, Gabrielle Cayemberg; nephews, Aiden Cayemberg, Damon Strobel, and Gibson Cayemberg; his fiancée’s parents, Lori and Brian Krause of Wausau and their children, Wendy and Jonah (Jessica) Krause of Wausau; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Rev. Wes Jedras will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Nate will be sadly missed by all of his loved ones. A special thanks to the Medical ICU at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the kindness and care they received.
Emeline “Emmy” Radtke
Emeline “Emmy” Radtke, 78, of Weston, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at the Aspirus Hospice House after a courageous 14-month battle with lung cancer.
A Celebration of Emmy’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at Brainard Funeral Home- Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston, with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Ray Connor will officiate.
Emmy was born on May 24, 1941, in Drake, North Dakota, to the late Bernhart and Carrie (Blumhagen) Braun. She was a graduate of Drake High School and went on to obtain her flight attendant certificate at McConnell Travel School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While there, she met her first husband and father of their five children, James Lemire. They later divorced. Emmy was previously employed as a Business Manager for Dr. Ronald Hager in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. In 1994, she married Darrell Radtke and later retired to Lakeview, Arkansas. After Darrell passed away, Emmy relocated back to Wisconsin to be closer to family.
Emmy had many interests over the years, but her passions were reading, playing cribbage, crocheting, keeping up with friends and family on her Kindle, crossword puzzles, and playing cards or games with her church friends and family. She enjoyed watching “Survivor,” “Dancing with the Stars” and just about any show on the Game Show Network. A win at the casino from time to time brought her great joy, as well as her favorite drink, rum and caffeine free diet Coke.
She is survived by five children: daughter Cindy (Bob) Kutsi, Big Bay, Michigan, daughter Lori Webb, New Port Richey, Florida, son Timothy Lemire, Barron, Wisconsin, twin daughter Kimberly Brewer, New Braunfels, Texas, twin daughter Kelly (Mark) Fuller, Weston, Wisconsin, sister Carol Stolt, Drake, North Dakota, brother, Lester Braun, Tracy, California, seven beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Emmy was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; parents, Bernhart and Carrie; brothers, Victor and Lowell and her sister Jean.
Emmy’s family wishes to thank the amazing Aspirus Hospice House Staff for the loving care and compassion they showed to her in the five months she was with them.

Joan Schneeberger
Joan M. Schneeberger, 87, of Marathon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born March 17, 1932, in Brookfield, daughter of Simon and Catherine (Groh) Gebhardt. On Oct. 23, 1954, she married Robert “Bob” Schneeberger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elm Grove. He survives.
Together, Joan and Bob owned and operated the former Bob’s Cassel Bar in the town of Cassel and also grew ginseng in Marathon for many years. In her later years, Joan enjoyed working as a baker at the former Emma Krumbee’s in Rib Mountain, where she was employed until the age of 80. Some of her favorite pastimes included golfing, bowling and playing cards with her friends.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Robert Sr.; three children, Linda (Gregg) Gassner, Wausau, Robert Schneeberger Jr., Mosinee and Gerald (Toni) Schneeberger, Edgar; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Sulzer, Ryan Gassner, Kelsi and Jordan Schneeberger, Ashley (Andre) Tackes, Zachary and Lindsey Schneeberger; and two sisters, Bernice Stephens, Menomonee Falls and Carol Karbowski, Sun City West, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Bette (Daniel) Sulzer; and five brothers, Jake, Roy, Harold, Bernard and Robert Gebhardt.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier and Rev. Joseph Nakwah will concelebrate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marathon, or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel.

Susan Richards
If you knew Susan (Sue) Richards, you would remember her bright eyes, warm heart and quiet presence that filled a room. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and playing with her granddaughters, Elin and Aria.
She was born April 25, 1956, in Wausau to the late Ellsworth and Margaret (Holub) Bliss. She grew up in Wausau and was a graduate of Newman High School. On Jan. 25, 1993, she married Bernard Richards in Las Vegas. They enjoyed traveling, going to the casinos, camping and spending time at Watters Edge Campground on Lake Tomahawk. She loved reading and shopping at thrift stores. Sue was happiest in the sun and was able to escape the cold winter months the past few years by spending time in Florida. Sue was a member of St. Anne Parish and always volunteered in the hamburger stand during Polka Fest.
At the age of 63, Sue passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Bernie of Wausau, three children, Amy (Paul) Gasch of LaCrosse, Holly Raasch (Rob Phillips) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Reid Richards of Wausau, two granddaughters, Elin and Aria Gasch, three sisters, Kate (Bruce) Lingsweiler of Racine, Ann (Gary) Ventzke of Wausau, Jane Bliss of Plover and one brother, Jim (Julie) Bliss of Wausau.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at St. Anne Parish, 700 W. Bridge St., Wausau. Father Tom Lindner will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
Henriette “Yedda” Jockin
Henriette “Yedda” Jockin, 89, passed away peacefully among family and the dedicated staff at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Facility in Plover, Wisconsin, on Nov. 5, 2019.
Yedda was born on July 3, 1930, to Willem and Gerria Krijgers-Janzen in the Netherlands. She was an adolescent during World War II, as the German military occupied her country and her home. She learned early on to make the best out of even the worst situations. At age 13, she convinced one of these young German soldiers, who also happened to be a concert pianist, to teach her to play the piano. She continued to play until her dying days, often by memory or musical ear. The Canadian military forces liberated her hometown of Aalten in 1945. She recalled SPAM being thrown from the army tanks as they rolled through, saying that nothing has ever tasted better.
Yedda completed her studies in the Netherlands, receiving her Masters Degree in social work. However, she started a career for the Dutch government working abroad, and was stationed in Dutch Embassies in the Middle East; primarily Istanbul, Turkey. She loved travel and met her husband, Hubert “Huib” Jockin, who was also from the Netherlands, during a ski weekend in Albach, Austria. They kept in letter contact for two years before she received a telegram in the Middle East with a marriage proposal and request to move to the United States. They settled in Buffalo, New York, where they lived for over 45 years. She relocated to Wisconsin one year ago to be close to family.
Yedda and Huib were married 54 years before Hubert’s passing and raised five children: Victor, Yvette, Eric, Mark and Michelle. She was an exceptional wife and loving mother, making family her top priority. She worked part time as a real estate broker and continued her service to the Dutch government. She served as the Honorary Consul of the Netherlands for New York State for over 15 years. She was one of only two women in the United States who held this position. She was later knighted by the Queen of the Netherlands for her lifelong service to the Dutch government and became a member of the Royal House of Orange. The same Canadian men who liberated her hometown in 1945, presented her with this medal of honor in 1985 in Buffalo, NY. You may therefore refer to her as Lady Henriette.
Most importantly, Yedda had a zest for life that was inspiring. She loved adventure, world travel, the natural world and just being a goof ball. She was a strong, sophisticated, highly educated woman who loved to dress her best and enjoy the finer things in life; but also loved a good Whopper and a beer. She had a heart of gold with eternal optimism. Even in her decline, she took each loss in stride and enjoyed the life that remained; mostly by spending time with her family, including her 13 grandchildren. There was not a day that went by that she didn’t find something to smile about, no matter how rough life could be. There is a lesson in there for all of us. She will be greatly missed.

Joanette Suchon
Joanette Ann (Raflik) Suchon of Stevens Point passed away peacefully Nov. 4, 2019, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1938, in Mill Creek, to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Shuda) Raflik. Joanette graduated from Maria High school in 1956 and attended Mid-State Technical Institute, earning a degree in marketing.
Joanette lived for polka dancing and her talents included sewing, quilting and crochet. She was loved and respected in her community for her volunteer work at the Lincoln Center and for the Republican Party. Many knew her from her years of service to the children of the community as she transported them to and from Steven Point schools.
Joanette is survived by her five children, Deborah (Joe) Jacobs, Daniel Suchon, Deanna Atwood, Dawn Suchon Rogers, Darin (Jessica) Suchon; and her daughter in-law, Casey Suchon; her grandchildren, Alex Jacobs, Melissa (Jacobs) Benson, Melanie (Jacobs) Hebl, Sarah Suchon, Jennifer Suchon, Angela (Suchon) McCarty, Issac Rogers, Jessica Rogers, Lukas Suchon and Logan Suchon; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ryder, Mason and Clive. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Jerry (Sharon) Raflik, Agnes Hausman, Ann Marie Somers, Kathy (Don) Wisinski, Chet (Darlene) Raflik, Joe Raflik, Patrick (Kathy) Raflik, Dorothy Sankey; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Suchon; and her brothers, James Raflik and John “Jack” Raflik.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Stevens Point Seventh Day Adventist Church in Whiting, Wisconsin.
