The suspect in a stabbing this week at a home on the city’s west side is being held on a $1 million cash bond after a hearing Wednesdsay in Marathon County Circuit Court.

Rescue workers were initially called at about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3 to a home in the 1000 block of South 9th Avenue for a report of a man who had been stabbed.

When they arrived, they discovered a man who suffered multiple stab wounds to the back with what appears to have been a kitchen knife, according to initial scanner traffic.

A second medical unit was called to the scene for a man in police custody at the same residence with minor knife wound.

The suspect in the stabbing has been identified as Aaron Hardy-Opper, 31, of Wausau. A probable cause hearing was held Wednesday, with attempted homicide charges expected to be filed as early as Friday.

Hardy-Opper remains jailed as of Wednesday afternoon.

The 35-year-old victim, whose name was not immediately released, is expected to survived.
