The Rothschild/Schofield Aquatic Center will remain closed for the 2020 season, municipal leaders announced this week.

The decision comes as Wausau continues to delay making a decision on its own pool situation. Wausau Parks and Recreation Committee members voted Monday to postpone the city’s decision until June 1.

Beginning next week, the Village of Rothschild will begin issuing refunds for season passes that were purchased.

Weston officials have not yet announced a decision on the municipal aquatic center, but in April stopped taking swim lesson registrations and selling season passes.

At least a dozen municipalities statewide have opted to keep pools closed for the summer due to the complexities involved in keeping conditions safe and sanitary for swimmers.
