Police are investigating the deaths of two people found dead Sunday in their Rusk County home.

Deputies with the Rusk County Sheriff’s Department were called to the home after a family member made the discovery. Investigators have ruled the case a double homicide.

The home is in the town of Sheldon, a rural area about 16 miles southeast of Ladysmith.

Authorities have not said how they were killed, but investigators think the two victims were targeted and say the slayings were not a random act.

The public is not believed to be at risk, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. They are also assisted by the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory and Wisconsin State Patrol.

The investigation is ongoing and no names have yet been released.
