WAUSAU – An organization that aims to develop and operate a shared space nonprofit center is considering a site on Cleveland Avenue in Wausau, just south of the existing St. Vincent de Paul Thrift store.

Community Partners Campus would initially operate a 30,000-square-foot structure that could house eight to 15 local nonprofit partners. Additional buildings could be added as needs for services are identified.

CPC would own the campus facility, which is accessible by the city bus route, and rent space to the nonprofits at below market rates, the company said.

“Providing this type of collaborative shared space facility allows our nonprofit partners to concentrate on providing services without the distraction of owning a building or spending valuable funds on things like a new roof or heating system,” said Brian Gumness, a CPC board member, in a news release. “In addition, co-locating allows our partners the ability to share office services, employee talent, a kitchen and volunteers, but the biggest benefit will be to the individuals and families who seek these services.”

CPC would employ an executive director to help coordinate services, create collaborative opportunities and be responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of the campus.
