Weather officials have issued a flood warning for areas along the Wisconsin River below Wausau, until further notice.

By Thursday morning waters were above the flood stage, with minor flooding occurring. At the current level, waters can approach buildings in D.C. Everest Park and Oak Island Park.

Additional thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening, increasing the potential for flooding.

A few storms could produce wind gusts more than 40 mph, hail and heavy rainfall. Some rivers and streams will continue to rise with additional flooding in some areas.

Sunshine will return to Wausau on Friday with a high near 70, but some rivers and streams could remain above bankfull through the upcoming weekend.
