Bunkers in Wausau is temporarily closed after an employee at the business tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, according to an email and Facebook post from company officials.
“Today we were informed that someone whose last presence at Bunkers was during the afternoon of Thursday June 18th has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus,” the email reads. “While we are awaiting direction from the Marathon County Health Department our clubhouse is closed to the public which includes all food and beverage service.”
Bunkers, 1001 Golf Club Road, will have the clubhouse professionally sanitized on Wednesday. The temporary closure is voluntary.
Marathon County Health Department Public Information Officer Judy Burrows said the employee did not work during an infectious period and there is no risk to patrons. Anyone who visited Bunkers between June 18-22 does not need to call the health department, which will conduct contact tracing.
Tribute Golf Course remains open with tee times available online at golfinwausau.com. All tee times must be prepaid online or by phone with a credit card.
Carts will be allowed, and will be sanitized between each use.
“There has been a marked increase in the number of cases in Marathon County in the past two weeks,” Burrows said. “There is just going to be some risk going out into public everywhere and exposures will happen. In order to keep safe, people are encouraged to practice social distancing, avoid touching their face, wear face coverings and wash their hands.”
“We will continue to be proactive and transparent regarding the safety and well-being of our staff and customers,” the post reads. “Once we receive direction from the Marathon County Health Department, we will post updates on our Facebook page, website and through our constant contact loyalty program.”
