One person is dead and a second person is critically injured following a large explosion Monday morning at a Chippewa County home, officials said.
The blast leveled the home just north of Eau Claire in the town of Wheaton. Officials say propane is likely to blame.
The injured victim was transported to an Eau Claire hospital for treatment. No one else was inside the home at the time of the blast.
The Chippewa Herald reports the home is owned by Dale Lambert. Authorities have not publicly identified either victim in the blast.
An adjacent property was also damaged in the explosion.
The Department of Criminal Investigation and Chippewa County authorities are investigating.
