The group was founded on February 8, 2012 by Army Veteran Ruth James and has met weekly at Denny’s in Rothschild. The group took a break during the peak of COVID-19 and then met in the summer of 2020 at Marathon Park for 19 weeks prior to returning to Denny’s.

The group now has over 570 members and continues to grow. Members attend the weekly meeting from 10:00 to 11:30 am on Wednesdays at Denny’s. The group was created without any organization affiliation. Many of its members belong to other organizations including the American Legion, VFW, DAV, VVA, Man of Honor Society and the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.  The group does not have an agenda, dues, officers or bylaws. It is run strictly by volunteers and operates with donations from local businesses, residents and its members.

The meetings offer a place for Veterans to gather and enjoy a cup of coffee and a meal. The group provides information of interest to Veterans and support for each other. Guest speakers are invited if they offer Veteran services and support.  Denny’s offers the group two walls to display the U.S. flag, the groups banner and rotating 8×10 patriotic photos of Veteran members. All Veterans of any age or era are welcome at the meetings. “Just grab a chair and say hello”.
