Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – Carson Gunderson and Carsen Gause each had a hat trick to lead the Wisconsin Rapids boys hockey team to an 8-3 win over Wausau East/Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday at the Marathon Park Ice Arena.

After two early Wisconsin Rapids goals by Gunderson and Gause, Wausau East/Merrill tied the game at 2-2 on goals from Colton Betro and Eli Pagel.

The Raiders (15-5, 6-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference) then ripped off six unanswered goals to take control.

Sawyer Wilkens scored late in the first period, and Gunderson and Gause added goals in the second to put the Raiders on top 5-2.

Gunderson, Gause and Keynan Miller scored in the first half of the third period for Wisconsin Rapids.

Gause also had three assists, as did Josh Dekarske for the Raiders.

Wisconsin Rapids plays a Wisconsin Valley Conference game at D.C. Everest on Thursday.
