Wausau’s Grand Theater will no longer require COVID-19 vaccination cards or negative tests for patrons, the organization announced on Thursday.
“In conjunction with the producers who bring shows to The Grand, we are lifting the proof of COVID-19 vaccination/testing requirement as of Friday, February 18”, said Sean Wright, Executive Director of The Grand Theater. “We appreciate the patience and continued support from our patrons and donors throughout this season. We’re also encouraged to see the COVID-19 numbers improving throughout Wisconsin.”
Masks are still required for all patrons (over two years of age), regardless of vaccination status, unless actively eating or drinking. Grand Theater staff and volunteers are also required to wear a mask throughout performances.
Because of the swiftly changing COVID-19 environment, some touring artists and performance companies may adjust to require additional health and safety protocols, including proof of vaccination or negative test for their audience. These details will be posted on that event’s ticketing page on The Grand’s website and shared with patrons who purchase tickets. As of this announcement, no scheduled shows at The Grand require protocols beyond masking. Please be advised this may change to reflect revised specifications from the performers.
Health and safety protocols continue to be reviewed and updated. Prior to reopening in August 2021, The Grand made multiple health and safety enhancements to the facility. In addition to touchless ticket scanners and program options, the organization installed touchless faucets and paper towel dispensers in all restrooms and increased hand sanitizing stations throughout all venues. Ionization systems were also installed in all air handling units throughout the building.
We have enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces back once again to enjoy our stage. More than 30 shows and events remain in the 2021-22 season, including nationally acclaimed comedians, Broadway musicals, and international performing artists. See the full calendar at www.grandtheater.org.
