Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – The Wausau Newman Catholic girls basketball team wrapped up its conference schedule with a 33-28 loss to Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division contest Thursday at Newman Catholic High School.

The game was tied at 15-15 at halftime before Stratford was able to pull away late, holding Newman to 13 second-half points.

Bailey Linzmaier had 11 points for Stratford, which finishes the regular season 11-12 overall and the Marawood South with a 7-9 record.

Maggie Wulf led Newman (10-13, 4-12 Marawood South) with nine points.

Newman Catholic plays a nonconference game at Rosholt on Friday to finish its regular season, then will travel to Marshfield Columbus Catholic for a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal Tuesday. The game against Columbus will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
