Roger D. Schneider

Was ushered into the presence of his Savior, March 2, 2022, at the age of 63. He was born in Wausau, WI, March 19, 1958. He was the owner/manager of Wittenberg True Value and served this community for 26 years. He trusted Jesus Christ as Savior in August 1974 which forever changed his life. He enjoyed vacationing in Vero Beach, FL and sharing the experience with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert J. Schneider.

He is survived by his mother Jean (nee Fell) Schneider and his siblings, Starla (Gary) Kloth, Cindy (Jeff) Stoveken, William (Rene’) Schneider, Laurie Schneider, James (Faith) Schneider, Brenda (Daniel) Stoll, and Robert Schneider. He is also survived by his half-sister Karen (John) Koeppen and half-brother John (Nancy) Schneider, and many nieces and nephews and their children, and faithful co-workers at Wittenberg True Value.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, from 4:00-7:00pm at Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston.

Visitation will also be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022, from 10:00-11:00am immediately followed by the Service at 11:00am held at Wausau Alliance, 2125 Franklin St, Wausau.

Joan E. Lewitzke

Joan was born on June 21, 1934 in Wausau to the late Reuben and Alvina (Krueger) Schneck.  She was united in marriage to Dale Lewitzke on May 3, 1952 in Wausau.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 2007.  Joan was employed with SNE until her retirement.   

Joan was an amazing cook and cake decorator.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, and the occasional trip to the casino.  Above all, Joan was a woman of God whose love could be felt by all those around her.  Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to share in their lives.   

Joan is survived by her children Larry (Tamara) Lewitzke of Lake Geneva, James (Deb) Lewitzke of Wausau, and Diane (Patrick) Wunsch of Pewaukee; grandchildren Jeni (Justin) Oleinik, Stephanie (Bryan) Smith, Lisa (Andy) Sershon, Nolan Lewitzke, and Nick (Katie) Lewitzke; and great-grandchildren Malanyah, Lydia and Will, and Liam, Amelia, Ella and Phillip 

Besides her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her sisters Grace Kolbeck, Nancy Kleinschmidt, Forence Edleburg and Belva Jean Schneck and brothers Melvin, James and Howard Schneck. 

Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Restlawn Memorial Park, 235962 N Troy St, Wausau, WI 54403.  The Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate.  Visitation will take place from 11:30 until the time of service at Restlawn on Monday.

Jack B. Wunsch

Jack B. Wunsch, 78, Wausau, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed.

Jack was born on August 18, 1943 in Milwaukee to Roman and Esther Wunsch.   On June 20, 1970, he married Patricia Ovel and together they had two children, Brian (Jennifer Draper) and Rebecca (Rob) Domrese.  He is further survived by five grandchildren, Kyle and Alex Wunsch, Maya, Averie and Jonah Domrese; one brother, James (Nancy) Wunsch; six sisters, Mary Dumdey, Janet (Chuck) Heisler, Sue Puls, Karen (Roger) Kieper, Laurie Maegli and Julie Pyke; four sisters-in-law, Gail Wunsch, Barbara (Robert) Pfaff, Kathleen (Mike Sewell) Johnson and Ann Ovel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jerry Wunsch; one sister, Pat Heybl; and two brothers-in-law, John Maegli and Dan Ovel.

Jack was a veteran of the United States Navy.  For 43 years, he worked at Marathon Electric Corp. until his retirement at the age of 63.

Jack had many interests, including fishing, camping, trips to the casino and playing cards.  He also loved to watch his childrens sporting events, his grandsons hockey games, baseball games, basketball games and video games and his granddaughters dance, basketball games and “Roblox” video games.

Per Jack’s request no services will be held at this time.  A private family service will be held at a later date.

Morris O. Roberts

Morris O. “Hank” Roberts, 87, Wausau, died Friday March 4, 2022 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born June 22, 1934, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Morris and Isabella (Sahanatien) Roberts.  On August 17, 1957 he married Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Dimmer in Toronto.  She preceded him in death.

Morris had been employed in the packaging industry retiring from Sonoco.  He enjoyed fishing, model trains and watching the Packers.

Survivors include four children, Wayne (Karen) Roberts, Wausau, Cathy (Victor) Diaz, California, William (Terrie) Roberts, Plover, Amy (John) Stephens, Weston; grandchildren, Mitchell, McKenzie, Madeline, Erin, Jessica, Matthew, Danielle, Anthony, Amanda, Ariel, Brandon, Logan.;  9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bella Roberts, Ronald (Valerie) Roberts, William Roberts.

Besides his parents and wife, Morris was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria and Rosie, two brothers, Huey and Lloyd.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 10, 2022 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau.  Rev. Joseph Albert will officiate.  Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Clifford E. Sodke

Clifford E. Sodke, 86, Wausau, formerly of Athens, died Saturday March 5, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born February 26, 1936, in Rib Falls, son of the late Richard and Bertha (Punke) Sodke.  Prior to his retirement, Clifford had been a dairy farmer.

Survivors include his siblings, Rheinhardt (Sandy) Sodke, Wausau and Doris Erdman, Rib Mountain and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Richard (Olga), Lawrence, Clarence, Reuben (Pat), Bertram, Delmar, Gordon (Sylvia), one sister, Lorraine (Aloysius) Schara and two nephews, Steven Erdman and Phillip Sodke.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar.  Rev. Gail Sowell will officiate.  Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Edgar funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com

Gary L. Schurter

Gary L. Schurter, 83, Wausau, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at his residence, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

He was born May 3, 1938 in Tremont, IL, son of the late William and Mildred (Luick) Schurter. 

For over 30 years, Gary worked as an electrical engineer for Marathon Electric and retired as Vice President of Engineering.  He traveled extensively around the world and was instrumental in the development and design of the electric motor in the St. Louis Arch.

Gary was a proud member of Alcoholic Anonymous for over 30 years. 

Among his favorite pastimes, he liked woodworking and metal work, handcrafting many beautiful knives.  He also liked bird watching as was a great storyteller.

Survivors include sons, Theodore (Kim) Schurter and Paul Schurter, Wausau; grandchildren, Savannah, Karlee, Storie, Spencer, Trevor and Julia; step-children, Michael (Beth) Denzin, Lake Mills and Michelle (Jake) Trussoni, North Prairie; and step-grandchildren, Samuel and Nathan.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rae; his second wife, Carole; his daughter, Colette; and his brother, Wayne.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel, Wausau.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the Restlawn Chapel.

Harold V. Rye

Harold Vincent Rye, 93, of Rothschild, WI passed away in the early morning of Monday, February 28, 2022, with family by his side.

Harold was born on February 23, 1929, in Ironwood, Michigan, son of Andrew and Anna (LeGeault) Rye. A 1947 graduate of Ironwood High School, he married Mary Ann Andrina in Ironwood MI on February 16, 1952, while on leave from the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged he worked at White Pine copper mine before moving to Wausau, WI.

Harold repaired calculators for the Monroe division of Litton Industries, worked for a time at the Mosinee airport, and spent twenty years working at the Rothschild paper mill. In retirement he helped with child care in their home.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary; four children: Kenneth (Cheryl) Rye, Kronenwetter; Keith (Bernadette) Rye, Madison; Kevin Rye, Madison; and Renee (Scott) Ristow, Mosinee; one sister, Anna Marie Olson, Ironwood, MI; one daughter-in-law Winnie (Michael) Rye, Des Moines, IA; nine grandchildren: Michael, Jonathan and Shawn Thomas, Attalie and Shaeyla Rye, Mariah Lohff and Tahareh Mohammadian, Cortnee and Casey Ristow; great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Deborah and son-in-law Michael Thomas; his son, Michael Rye; his brothers Elwood and Jim Rye, and his sister, Kjersten Siewert.

He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and for his great love of kids.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mt View Care Center for the wonderful care they gave Harold over the last two covid-challenged years.

Visitation is at 10 AM followed by a prayer service at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the John J Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Ave, Schofield, WI. Online condolences may be expressed at HonorOne.com. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Thomas L. Scott

Thomas Leroy Scott, age 75, of Stevens Point, WI passed on Thursday February 24, 2022 after suffering a heart attack at home.

Tom was born on March 16, 1946 in Stevens Point, WI to Robert C. and Gertrude (Jewel) Scott.

He attended area schools and was in the PJ Jacobs High School class of 1964.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rosemary Taylor, on April 25, 1964 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, she and all of their kids survived him – only God knows how!

Dad was a jack of all trades and had the best sense of humor. He always had a joke or one-liner to tell.

In his younger years he worked for Consolidated Papers / Consoweld in Wisconsin Rapids. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved anything related to gunsmithing, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He taught Hunter Safety Education for over 20 years, which he received many awards for his service. He was also a long-time member of the Ashley Shooting Club and the Bill Cook Chapter of the Isaac Walton League.

Tom was preceded by his parents and siblings Robert E Scott, Carlton Scott, Jean Miller and Kenneth Scott; granddaughter Katharinerose-Elizabeth Rohde, and his fur babies / hunting partners; Abby, Penny, Moose Night Train and Girl.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rosemary and their six children; Charles (Karen) Scott, Cheryl (Ron) Battles, Christy Harris, Carrie (David) Nabors, Charity (Keith) Smith and Constance (Kevin) Smith; 10 grandchildren Jason Larsen, Thomas C. Scott, Jonathan Rayome, Nikol (Mark) Jolin, Tucker Harris, Taylor Harris, Leo Fraijo, Jesse Fraijo, Isla Smith, Ezra Smith, several great-grandchildren and the best camping and cribbage playing in-laws, Jan and Dawayne Waltenberg.

A celebration of life was held February 27, 2022 at the Moose Family Center in Stevens Point with a private burial to follow at a later date.

As Dad would say “That’s All Folks!”

Brenda L. Crosswhite

Brenda Louise (Preuss) Crosswhite formerly Ringle, age 57, of Farmington, Arkansas, died on March 5, 2022, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born on May 25, 1964, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, to Fredrick and Leila (Schwarz) Preuss. 

Brenda was a very generous person, always supporting American War Veterans and other charities. Even though she never had children, Brenda was affectionately called “Aunt Bunny” by all her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy “Gene” Crosswhite; grandparents, Fred and Elizabeth Preuss, and Robert and Carmela Schwarz; and her uncle, Charles Preuss.

Brenda is survived by life partner, Todd McGreck; parents, Fredrick and Leila Preuss of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; three sisters, Chandra Preuss of Alma, Arkansas, Connie (Earl) Beaumia of Pella, Wisconsin, and Christine (Scott) Wilken of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; nieces and nephews: Katie (Jake) Koebernik, Sydney (Devin) Pellerin, Dela’von Komanekin, Calton Montoya, Seth (Page) Wilken, Casey (William) Wilken and Alexander McGreck; great nieces and nephews: Harper, Connor, Sophie, Avery, Milo, Veda, Harmony, Shelby, Kinley, Kenzie, Brielle and Jaylen; and numerous other family and friends.
