MARSHFIELD – D.C. Everest scored five times in the top of the seventh inning to break open a tie game and went on to defeat Marshfield 7-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference baseball matchup Thursday night at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield scored both of its runs in the second inning as Emmitt Konieczny singled and scored on a triple by Chase Robinson. Robinson came in to score on a wild pitch and the Blue Devils led 2-0.

D.C. Everest responded with a pair of runs in the top of the third on an RBI fielder’s choice by Pierson Macdonald and an RBI single by Jake Vercimak.

The score remained deadlocked until D.C. Everest was able to chase Marshfield pitcher Sloan Welch, who struck out 12 through six innings.

Two errors propelled Everest (7-3, 4-2 Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference) to the big inning that included an RBI single by Cuyler Soppe, a two-run single by Cole Seymour, and an RBI double by Logan Cherek.
