WAUSAU – Registration is open for United Way of Marathon County’s 14th annual Turkey Trot, to be held at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 23.
One hundred percent of registration fees are donated to the Marathon County Hunger Coalition, an initiative of United Way. Money raised from this event will help feed those in need throughout the year.
The 5k run and walk starts and ends at the 400 Block downtown Wausau. Registration sells out at 2,000 participants.
Money raised is used locally to buy food for 12 pantries, as well as the Hunger Coalition’s Mobile Food Pantry. On average, the coalition spends around $2,000 monthly buying in bulk from local grocery stores to distribute to the pantries.
