Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – The Spencer girls basketball team blew open a tight game in the second half and defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 51-27 in a nonconference game Monday at Newman Catholic High School.

The Rockets led 25-19 at halftime before holding Newman Catholic to just eight points in the second half, cruising to the 24-point victory.

Autumn Davis scored 14 points, and Montana Kohls and Alexis Mlsna each added eight in the win for Spencer, which is now 5-12 this season.

The Cardinals only had seven made field goals, with 11 of their 27 points coming at the free throw line. No player scored more than six for Newman Catholic (4-13).

Newman Catholic is back in action Thursday at home against Rib Lake for a Marawood Conference crossover game.
