A 61-year-old Wausau man will spend three years in prison after police discovered pornographic images of children in his possession, according to court records.

Michael Wadinski was charged in June with five counts of possessing child pornography after police searched his home in the 100 block of North 12th Street in Wausau.

Investigators seized a desktop computer from the home and a forensic investigation found multiple, sexually explicit images of children on the hard drive, court records state. Police estimated the age of the children in the images to be about 9 years old.

During a hearing this week in Marathon County Circuit Court, Wadinski pleaded no contest to a single charge of possessing child pornography and was convicted. Four additional counts were dismissed but read into the record at sentencing.

Judge Suzanne O’Neill sentenced Wadinski to three years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision. He is prohibited from having contact with children younger than 18 except for immediate family members and cannot use any device capable of accessing the internet without permission.

Wadinski was remanded to the prison system for processing.
