To the editor:

Health and well-being are on the decline nationally. American life expectancy is dropping and mental health in the U.S. has eroded since the pandemic. As medical studies find a continued decline in the overall health of Americans, it’s more important than ever to provide meaningful quality of life opportunities to those of us 55 and older.

Thankfully, there’s a place in our community doing just that. The Landing, a community hub for Wausau residents 55 and older, is on the cutting edge of providing north central Wisconsin with unparalleled programming. Fitness programs include stretch & strength classes, swimming, Pickelball, golf, Zumba, cycling and so much more. Access to the YMCA’s recreational facilities provides even more opportunities for members like myself to be active.

The Landing goes beyond physical wellness to also support the mental health of its members. Programs like the Laughter Club, Mind, Body & Spirit sessions, financial wellness seminars, and various spiritual classes aim to nurture the wellbeing of residents and ensure we are in the best headspace to enjoy our experience.

Knowing that my well being is a priority and I am surrounded by a supportive community has made my experience as a member at The Landing even better. If you’re looking for a place to gather, move, and grow, join us in creating an even stronger and even healthier community.
