Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – Tria Tubbs had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Stratford girls basketball team to a hard-fought 39-35 win over Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday at Newman Catholic High School.

The game was tight throughout as the Tigers (12-10, 9-5 Marawood South) led by three points at halftime and outscored Newman by one point in the second to secure the victory.

Evie Bates had 14 points and Ashley Jankowski scored 12 for Newman Catholic (5-15, 4-10 Marawood South).

Both teams will play Marawood crossover games on the road Thursday as Stratford travels to Rib Lake and Newman Catholic plays at Prentice.
