WAUSAU — The Law Enforcement Appreciation Project will host a special
Valentine’s Day gift card presentation ceremony in February to honor law enforcement personnel.

The event will be held at 8 a.m. Feb. 12 at AbbyBank, 2405 Schofield Ave., Suite 100, in Weston.

“We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering dedication of our Marathon County law enforcement officers and dispatchers,” said Dan Krcma, co-founder of LEAP. “This gift card presentation is just a small token of our appreciation for everything they do to keep us safe.”

Twenty-five dollar gift cards totaling $7,100 will be given to every Marathon County patrol officer and 911 call dispatchers in recognition of the critical role they play in public safety.

The gift cards are from coffee establishments throughout Marathon County, including Clean Slate, Kwik Trip, McDonald’s, Culvers and Cenex.

Marathon County is the largest of Wisconsin ‘s 72 counties with an area of 1,584 square miles. Deputies patrol 3,270 miles of federal, state and local roadways.

Leaders from the county’s multiple jurisdictions will gather to accept the Valentine-themed gift bags on behalf of their departments. A reception will include coffee and donuts.
