A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday by a passing semi tractor trailer in a Grant County community, according to police.
The Fennimore Police Department issued a statement on its Facebook page about the incident and said that dispatch was notified at about 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, of a crash at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 12th Street in the city of Fennimore.
The pedestrian, an adult, was crossing the street when he was struck by a southbound semi. A witness immediately reported the crash and the semi was located on Hwy. 18 in Fennimore’s industrial park, police said.
The pedestrian, who died at the scene, has not been publicly named. A portion of the roadway was shut down for about 12 hours.
FPD was assisted by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Grant County Coroner’s Office, Fennimore Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Fennimore Street Department and the Grant County Highway Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
