Wausau Pilot & Review

The brackets for the upcoming 2024 WIAA girls basketball playoffs were announced on Sunday.

Play begins with regional quarterfinals in all five divisions on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Regionals continue with semifinals on Friday, Feb. 23, and finals on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Sectionals will be held Thursday, Feb. 29, and Saturday, March 2, with four teams in each of the five divisions earning berths to the 2024 WIAA State Girls Basketball Tournament, which will be held Thursday, March 7, to Saturday, March 9, at Resch Center in Green Bay.

Locally, Wausau West and D.C. Everest are in the same Division 1 Sectional 1 bracket.

D.C. Everest is the No. 18 seed and will play a regional quarterfinal on Feb. 20 at No. 15 Eau Claire North. The winner moves on to a regional semifinal at No. 2 Hudson.

Wausau West is the No. 12 seed and will play a regional semifinal Feb. 23 at Wisconsin Valley Conference rival No. 5 Stevens Point.

In Division 2, Wausau East is the No. 9 seed in the top half of the Division 2 Sectional 1 bracket and will travel to No. 8 River Falls for a regional quarterfinal Feb. 20. The winner plays at No. 1 seed Menomonie on Feb. 23.

Wausau Newman Catholic is the No. 10 seed in its half of the Division 5 Sectional 2 bracket and also hits the road for a regional quarterfinal against No. 7 Edgar on Feb. 20.
