55 years! Neither of us would have ever imagined being blessed with that many years together when we stood in St. Mary Church in Marathon so many years ago and vowed to be husband and wife in good times and in bad! Now together we praise God that most of those 55 years have brought more joy than pain. We thank Him for the many times He walked with us during the rough spots. We relish all the times we share with each other and our three wonderful children, three great in-law children and fantastic seven grandkids. We are grateful most of our health issues fall in the aches and pains department. We are blessed with a wonderful church community, great neighbors and many friends. We are still able to continue to serve our church, community and family in many ways. Together we have made a good life. We celebrate!
My husband passed away from Cancer in January 2009. When he passed and I looked in his wallet he still had the first note I ever wrote him back in 2004 prior to dating he tried to date me for two years and I kept saying no. One day I finally gave in and wrote him this note. “Hello my dupa! Call me sometime. (Number) ?” Love, Name — I seriously had no idea what dupa meant until we started dating and he asked me why I kept calling him an ass! I was like what are you talking about? He said Dupa? I said what about it, it’s a cute name! He said you have been shouting “hi ass” across the whole room at work for over a year! Why do you think I always smiled and shook my head? I’m happy with me 2nd Chapter 15 years later with two kids. ?
My beautiful Mikayla, You have had more heartache in your life than any young mom should ever have. You are a beacon of light for other moms who have felt the heartache you feel. To say I am proud of you is an understatement. I know that you have days where it is hard to get out of bed, hard to get through your day and hard to breathe. Days that you just want to curl up and not feel things any more. But you are an amazing mom anc you keep pushing forward, carrying that heartache and helping others through their grief. I wish I could take away all your heartache and carry it myself. Know that we will always be here for you and living you every step of the way. You will always be my baby girl. Love Mom and Dad
To my one and only… Love is like a box of rocks, there are no two that are the same. Like two lost sheep in a field our hearts connected over 35 years ago on a blind date. The only two things we had in common were NTC and family dysfunction. Through our journey through life our hearts stuck like glue and was filled with laughter, love and drama. We been so blessed to have each other and raise our kids into caring respectful responsible adults. I look so forward to the next 35 years as we both drift into the sunset with a smile and get to witness the joys of watching our kids develop into families and take full advantage of life as we did. Doug you’re the GLUE! Meeting while we were serving in the military and dating only four months before I had orders for Germany didn’t stop the spark! Marriage two years later followed with a two year separation before the Army finally sent you my way was all taken in stride. I’m grateful for your persistence and love of frequent flyer mileage and thanks for the helicopter ride at Rucker!
