WAUSAU – Wausau East doubled up Wausau West in the first half and maintained its big lead the rest of the way, defeating the Warriors 62-47 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys basketball game Tuesday at East High School.

The Lumberjacks rolled out to a 32-16 lead by halftime and went on to finish off their third-straight victory, improving to 16-5 overall and 8-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Jesse Napgezek was 11-for-15 from the field, and finished with a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead Wausau East. Charlie Cayley also had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Wausau West falls to 13-8 and 5-6 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. West statistics were not reported.

Wausau East will host a pair of nonconference games against Waupun on Friday and Colfax on Monday before playing its regular-season and WVC finale at Stevens Point on Feb. 22.
