Days ahead of the Feb. 20 spring primary election, one of three candidates for Marathon County Board District 15 announced he will withdraw from the race, but county officials say his name will remain on the ballot.

Clerk Kim Trueblood said candidates cannot formally withdraw after signatures have been submitted. That means Alexander Vedvik, who recently announced his decision to withdraw, will still be considered, along with Joel Straub and Randy Fifrick.

Trueblood issued a statement Friday to clarify the process.

“The Clerk’s Office has received questions in recent days and wants to ensure all voters have accurate information before heading to the polls on Tuesday.
