The race to be elected mayor of Wausau is now down to two candidates after Tuesday’s primary numbers have been posted.

Incumbent Mayor Katie Rosenberg, who was first elected to the office four years ago, will face off April 2 with Doug Diny. Christopher Wood will not move past the primary, after coming in a far third. Rosenberg captured the most votes by far, with nearly 53% of ballots cast in favor of the incumbent.

Results are as follows, according to the Marathon County Clerk’s election webpage:

  • Doug Diny: 1,822 (42.13%)
  • Katie Rosenberg (I): 2,274 (52.58%)
  • Christopher Wood: 224 (5.16%)

Voter turnout was just 20.65 percent.

Wausau’s mayor serves a four-year term and earns an annual salary of $78,873.60, or around $38 per hour.
