MADISON – D.C. Everest’s Easton Cooper and Wausau West’s Savannah Danielson will wrestle for state titles on Saturday night after winning their semifinal matches Friday at the 2024 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center.

Cooper (45-1), a senior, defeated Turner Campbell of Holmen in sudden-victory overtime 7-5 to advance to the Division 1 126-pound title match against Wisconsin Rapids’ Carter Freeman (47-4) on Saturday night.

Danielson (35-1) won her 114-pound girls semifinal over Sophia Wagner of Princeton/Green Lake 2-1 and moves on to a championship match against undefeated Angie Bianchi (29-0) of Two Rivers.

Championship matches begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and will be televised on WAOW-TV 9.2 and online at waow.com.

The other seven local wrestlers at the state tournament were eliminated either on Thursday or Friday.

D.C. Everest’s Deakin Trotzer (144 pounds), Blake Bangtson (157) and Oscar Latendresse (285) lost first-round matches Thursday and consolation matches on Friday. Carson Kempf (150) was eliminated after a preliminary round match Thursday, as was Wausau West’s William McCorison (285).

Wausau West girls Lana Borchardt (152) and Anya Mueller (165) both lost their opening-round matches Thursday and fell in consolation matches on Friday.
