MADISON – D.C. Everest’s Easton Cooper and Wausau West’s Savannah Danielson both earned runner-up finishes at the 2024 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center on Saturday night.
Cooper lost in the final seconds to Carter Freeman of Wisconsin Rapids 3-1 in the boys 126-pound championship bout, while Danielson dropped her 114-pound girls final to undefeated Angie Bianchi of Two Rivers, 12-0.
Cooper and Freeman were at a stalemate for most of the match, before Freeman (48-4) earned two points and a takedown just before the buzzer in the third period to escape with a 3-1 win. Cooper finishes the season with a 45-2 record.
Bianchi completed her undefeated season at 30-0 as she won the major decision over Danielson (35-2).
