MADISON, Wis. – The No. 2 Wisconsin women’s hockey team will host NCAA tournament games for the first time in five years as the Badgers were picked as the No. 2 seed in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Hockey Tournament.

Wisconsin will host St. Lawrence and CHA champion Penn State at LaBahn Arena as SLU and PSU will play on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m. before the winner of that game will play the Badgers on Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m.

This weekend will be the 18th time that the Badgers have made the NCAA tournament, with UW making the big dance in each of the last 11 seasons.

This year marks the first time that Wisconsin has hosted NCAA tournament games since the field expanded to 11 teams and the Badgers’ home game on Saturday will be the first time since 2019 that UW has played in a NCAA tournament contest at LaBahn Arena. Wisconsin is 6-0-0 all-time in NCAA tournament tilts at LaBahn, outscoring opponents 28-2.

The Badgers are 3-1-0 all time against St. Lawrence, with their last meeting coming on March 16, 2007 in the Frozen Four semifinal game, resulting in a 4-0 victory for UW. Wisconsin also took down the Saints, 1-0, to win the 2006 Frozen Four semifinal game. The Badgers then went on to win the national championship in both of those seasons.

Wisconsin first met Penn State in the 2019-20 season and has posted a 3-1-0 record in their four meetings. The Badgers faced the Nittany Lions twice in the 2022-23 season, resulting in a split. UW fell in the opener 4-1, before bouncing back and posting nine goals to defeat PSU 9-1 in the series finale.
