A new Metro Ride director is at the helm of the city’s transit department, according to a Wausau news release issued Friday.

Arran Hersey spent the last 10 years at TriMet in Portland Ore., and began his career as a bus operator. Hersey has served in many different leadership roles since then including operations center manager, bus transportation assistant manager and bus operations manager.

“I am very excited for the opportunity,” Hersey said, in a prepared statement. “I look forward to immersing myself in this community, learning and experiencing everything it has to offer.”

Hersey has more than 20 years of operations management experience in the service industry, live theater and public transportation.

Mayor Katie Rosenberg said Hersey has “already hit the ground running.”

“There are no shortage of ideas, needs, and projects at Metro Ride,” she said.

Director Hersey started his tenure on started March 4, roughly four months after Matthew Rosenbloom-Jones resigned from the position citing a lack of support at City Hall.
