As police continue an investigation into the fatal beating of a 61-year-old Stevens Point man, a video has surfaced that appears to show the injured victim lying on the ground as the young men climb into a vehicle and tell the man to “have a good night.”

All four suspects are from the Wausau area. The first to be arrested was 18-year-old Christian Emerson, who was taken into custody on March 16 and ordered held on a $50,000 cash bond. Court records show the bond has been posted and Emerson is free at this time, with an April 3 court appearance set.

According to Point Plover Metro Wire, Emerson admitted during a police interview that he participated in the fatal assault on Donald G. Mitchell, Jr., who was unknown to the suspects. Metro Wire relied on court documents in its reporting.

The beating allegedly occurred in a parking lot on the south side of Cobblestone Hotel & Suites in downtown Stevens Point on March 15, Metro Wire reports. Mitchel, Jr. died in a Wausau trauma center on March 16 as a result of his injuries.

None of the suspects called 911, police said, and video shows them leaving the scene while the man was still alive.

Stevens Point Police say two additional suspects have surrendered. Brandon L. Boehm, 20, of Wausau, turned himself in at Wausau Probation and Parole on March 19. Boehm’s court records show charges dating back to 2021 including speeding, retail theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia, though all have been misdemeanors.

Arlin O. Sangster, 20, also from Wausau, surrendered to Wausau police on March 20. Sangster has two closed cases from 2023 in Waupaca Co., a dismissed speeding charge, and a first-offense operating while intoxicated conviction that resulted in losing his license for six months and paying court costs.

The video was allegedly posted to Snapchat and obtained by Wausau Pilot through a reader tip. The Metro Wire confirmed the video’s authenticity with local police officials.

The fourth suspect in the case has been identified as Daemon Kitzrow, 19, also of Wausau. Police say he has been located, but his charging status is unclear at this time.

Boehm is behind bars at the Portage Co. Jail. Unclear is when he or Sangster will have a bond hearing.
