WESTON – A D.C. Everest Senior High School student and teacher were recognized recently by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation, the D.C. Everest Area School District announced this week.

D.C. Everest senior Quan Lor was awarded a $10,000 Initiative Scholarship on behalf of the foundation. Each year, 100 high schools are designated to award an Initiative Scholarship. The award recognizes students who put forth extraordinary effort to do their best in the classroom and have overcome significant obstacles or adversity.

Sarah Bailey

Sarah Bailey, DCE Chinese instructor, was selected for the Teacher Fellowship award for her leadership and service in and outside the classroom, and her ability to inspire a love of learning and motivate students. She will receive a $6,000 award.

Recipients are selected by a process led by their teachers and school administrators.
