Harrison – Debra Weiss, owner of Ethereal Gardens, was recently awarded a $6,500 grant through the Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education Program to develop thermal sand batteries to be used in cold weather agricultural production. 

If successful, this technology stands to revolutionize not only cold weather farming, but residential and commercial heating in general, Weiss said in a news release.

Ethereal Gardens offers medicinal herbs, culinary herbs, dried herbal teas, native and pollinator nursery stock, organic vegetables and fruit, serving Wausau, Schofield, Rothschild, Weston, Mosinee, Eland, Wittenberg, Hatley, Ringle, Birnamwood, Antigo, Aniwa and Merrill. It also serves Minocqua and Eagle River area.
