Wausau Pilot & Review

The City of Wausau is accepting wait-list applications for a subsidized rental assistance program for low-income families in private housing market, officials said this week.

Potential tenants can apply for apartments at Riverview Towers, Riverview Terrace or a few other sites. The assistance program application period began on March 25 and runs through 3.30 p.m. on April 12.

The rental assistance given to income eligible individuals and families is provided under the Section 8 Housing Voucher Program, according to the Wausau Community Development Authority.

The federal program assists very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled “to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.” Participants are allowed to find their own housing in the private rental market with rent provided to the landlord directly.

An application to join the wait list can be mailed, emailed, faxed, or hand delivered to the WCDA office. For more information and clarification, people can call 715-261-6687.
