Springtime is asparagus time, and this recipe makes the most of the season. Using just a handful of ingredients, you’ll easily create a delicious dish that comes together in a snap.

Pasta with Asparagus Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. pasta (such as penne or fettuccine)
  • Approx. 1 lb. fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, lemon zest, or fresh herbs (chives, parsley, fresh basil or oregano all work well)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. Prepare the Asparagus:
    • While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Add the asparagus to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3-5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  3. Combine Pasta and Asparagus:
    • Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the asparagus. Toss everything together, adding a little reserved pasta water if the mixture seems dry.
    • Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Finish and Serve:
    • Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
    • Serve hot, garnished with optional red pepper flakes, lemon zest, or chopped fresh herbs.

Enjoy your meal! This simple yet delicious recipe is perfect for a quick dinner and can be easily customized with your favorite ingredients.
