TOWN OF NORRIE — Four members of the same family, including a 5-year-old girl, were injured Monday in a two-vehicle rollover crash on Hwy. 29, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash happened at about 3:25 p.m. when a pickup driven by 38-year-old Christopher J. Knaup of Merrill was struck by a car traveling southbound on Hilltop Road, according to the crash report. An 81-year-old woman driving the car, Helen Meydam of Rothschild, told police she did not see Knaup’s pickup before attempting to cross the highway.

Police said Knaup’s pickup spun counter clockwise after it was struck and entered the ditch on the south side of the highway before overturning several times. Knaup, along with a 39-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl riding in the pickup were injured in the crash and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The 16-year-old boy was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He suffered only minor injuries.

The youngest child, who was in a forward-facing child seat, was flown to Marshfield Medical Center.

Meydam, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign.
