Weston resident Scott Bouffleur, a director in the UW Colleges Office of Distance Learning, is the recipient of the 2017 Career Award from the University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension.
UW Colleges and UW-Extension Chancellor Cathy Sandeen presented the award at the institutions’ Chancellor’s Awards Event and Reception on September 21 in Madison. The annual Chancellor’s Awards recognize UW Colleges and UW-Extension partners, supporters and employees for their outstanding contributions to the quality of life in Wisconsin.
In giving the award, Sandeen praised Bouffleur for the essential role he has in ensuring a seamless delivery of distance education classes every semester. The success of Non-Online Distance Education (NODE) classes conducted via video and web conferencing and the myriad of point-to-point video classes can be attributed to his devotion and leadership.
Sandeen added, “UW Colleges and UW-Extension employees and partners work statewide to provide innovative education and services to students, business owners, farmers and citizens in every industry across Wisconsin. The Chancellor’s Awards recognize those individuals who’ve gone above and beyond in extending our mission to every corner of the state.”
The Career Award honors a currently active employee whose UW Colleges or UW-Extension career has been marked by consistently outstanding contributions for more than a decade. The employee must have demonstrated sustained commitment, outstanding quality, strong leadership, innovation, resource stewardship, responsiveness to changing clientele or administrative support needs, excellent customer/client/student support or service, a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness or other significant contributions to the missions and future of our institutions during a career of excellence.
Bouffleur joined UW Colleges as the instructional technologist at UW-Marathon County in 2000. In 2006, in addition to providing instructional technology support to faculty members, staff and students at UWMC, he assumed the responsibility for coordinating distance education for all the UW Colleges campuses.
