The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit is vying for one of five grants from a national organization to support their ongoing efforts.

This year, the Aftermath K9 Grant program will award a total of $15,000 in grants to five departments and their existing or prospective K9 programs for maintenance, safety equipment, or officer training. Officers and community members nominate and vote for local departments, and the five departments with the most votes will be awarded grants.

The Aftermath K9 Grant was founded to showcase, support, and reward the unique contributions made by law enforcement and their K9 units across the country.

The voting period ends Nov. 7 and winners will be announced on Nov. 10.
