WAUSAU — A 27-year-old Wausau man will ask a judge this week to reduce his $1,000 cash bond ordered in a violent domestic abuse case.
Police say Aaron Seidler on Nov. 9 was drunk and preparing to report to jail on an unrelated charge when he savagely beat, strangled, punched a woman in the face and threatened to kill the woman while a small child sat less than two feet away eating breakfast.
The woman, whose nose was broken in the alleged assault, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, according to court documents. Both the woman and child were later taken to a safe location, according to court documents.
In an earlier incident, Seidler is alleged to have cut the woman’s face with a kitchen knife, police said in their report.
Seidler is facing felony charges of second degree recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery, failure to report to jail, and three counts of strangulation/suffocation in connection with the Nov. 9 incident at his west side home.
Marathon County Circuit Judge Greg Huber on Nov. 13 ordered the bail amount, which Seidler is now contesting. In court filings, police say they are concerned more violence will occur if Seidler is freed. A review hearing is set for Wednesday.
