UPDATE: An inmate who walked away from the Marathon County Jail is back in custody.
According to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, Jenna Heck was released from the Marathon County Jail this weekend for work privileges, but did not return as scheduled. Police say she is now back in custody.
Heck, who was serving a nine month sentence for child neglect, now faces potential felony escape charges for her failure to return to the jail. Official charges have not yet been filed.
WAUSAU — Police are searching for a 26-year-old Wausau woman who is missing from the Marathon County Jail.
Police say Jenna Heck was serving a sentence for child neglect charges when she left the jail for work privileges. She was set to return to the jail at 6 p.m. Saturday, but never showed, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.
Police say Heck is not considered a danger to the public.
