The Wausau RiverWolves on Friday took on the Peoria Mustangs at Marathon Park Ice Arena in the first game of a two-game weekend series, and the first matchup between the two teams this season.

The Wausau RiverWolves were only able to get on the score sheet twice with both goals coming in the second period, after trailing the first period 1-0.  At the 8-minute mark of the second, Janne Rukamp scored Wausau’s first goal. Shortly after, at the 12:29 mark, Garrett Alton netted his fifth goal on the year.

The RiverWolves then gave up 5 unanswered goals to Peoria to end out the game. In goal tonight for Wausau was Henry Baribeau who faced 66 shots and stopped 60.

The Wausau RiverWolves will be back in action Saturday night, again taking on the Peoria Mustangs at 7 p.m. for game two of the weekend series.
