WAUSAU — A 26-year-old man accused of fatally shooting two people and wounding a third waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week and was ordered to stand trial on two counts of first degree intentional homicide, one count of attempted first degree intentional homicide and three counts of reckless endangerment.

Tyler Zimmerman of Owen is being held in the Marathon County Jail on a $1 million cash bond in connection with the Jan. 20 shooting in Abootsford.

Police say Zimmerman’s target was his girlfriend, 21-year-old Cierra Hardrath. Zimmerman and Hardrath shared a home in Owen, about 13 miles from where the shooting took place. Duane R Hostetler, Jr., 25, who was not acquainted with Zimmerman, was also killed. Hostetler’s legal name is Duane R. Lopez, Jr., but police say he was widely known by the name Hostetler.

Hostetler’s fiancee, 18-year-old Megan Dupee, was shot and wounded in the attack.

Circuit Judge Greg Huber on Wednesday found there is probable cause for a trial to proceed. Future court dates have not yet been set.
