WAUSAU — Rescue crews are at three separate locations along the Wisconsin River searching for a dog that jumped into the water and did not resurface.
As of 5 p.m., police and fire officials remain at Oak Island, Isle of Ferns Park, and behind the former VFW building near downtown Wausau. An officer at the scene confirmed a dog is missing.
The current on the river is now running at a fast pace, creating especially hazardous conditions for kayakers, boaters, swimmers and animals entering the water.
