Pennies for Animals (MCPL Wausau)
Kids can visit the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau, to donate pennies and other monetary donations to be given to a local animal-focused nonprofit. With each donation, kids can choose which organization they’d like to see receive the money. Donations accepted through Aug. 11. Call 715-261-7220 for more info.

Kindness Rocks: A Rock Painting Party (MCPL Spencer)
Kids can show off their creativity (and their kindness) by painting rocks at the Marathon County Public Library’s Spencer Branch, 105 S. Park St., Spencer. Stop by any time the library is open from July 23-27 to paint a positive picture, message or funky design on your rock, then give it to a friend or hide it around town for someone to find. Free, with all supplies provided. Toddler Dance Party (MCPL Wausau)
Toddlers can enjoy music and movement-themed story times and dance parties this summer beginning July 23 from 11-11:30 a.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Each session will include stories followed by dancing with music, scarves, bubbles and more. For more info, call 715-261-7220.

LEGO Block Party (MCPL Hatley)
Kids and families can spend a few hours playing and building with LEGO blocks on July 23 from 3-6 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Hatley Branch, 435 Curtis Ave., Hatley. Nature’s Niche Animal Program (MCPL Hatley)
Join the Marathon County Public Library to see live animals and learn about their environments during the Nature’s Niche Animal Program on July 24 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the library’s Hatley Branch, 435 Curtis Ave., Hatley. Dino Tlachac will talk about animals’ native habitats, their importance in our environment and will show off some real animals. Free. For more info, call 715-446-3537.

Make Your Own Musical Instruments! (MCPL Marathon City)
Children of all ages are invited to create their own musical instruments using common household items on July 24 at the Marathon County Public Library’s Marathon City Branch, 515 Washington St., Marathon City. Kids can practice and improve their literacy skills by reading aloud to a well-behaved therapy dog, provided by Therapy Dogs of Central Wisconsin. Visit any time during the set time period. Create Your Own Mosaics! (MCPL Hatley)
Teens can create their own artistic mosaics on July 26 from 2-5 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Hatley Branch, 435 Curtis Ave., Hatley. Library staff will teach attendees how to use broken CDs and colored sand to make their own mosaics of all shapes, colors and sizes. Free, with all supplies provided.
