Janice “Jan” Peterson

Janice “Jan” Peterson, 85, New Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Wausau, died Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Gulfside Hospice, New Port Richey. She was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Wausau, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Casimir and Antoniette (Cherek) Shebelski. On Sept. 1, 1956, she married Donald E. Peterson at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2015.

Jan was a class of 1950 graduate of Mosinee High School and a 1953 graduate of St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as surgical registered nurse at St. Mary Hospital. She also worked for the late Dr. William Norton in surgery and in the office. She also served as the secretary/treasurer of Peterson Funeral Home, Wausau.

Jan was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and of the Rosary Confraternity at St. Michael Parish, Wausau. She was a volunteer in the Emergency Room of Wausau Hospital for many years. She also helped out in the lunch room of Newman High School, Wausau, and in the garden at St. Anthony Retreat Center, Marathon. Jan loved reading and working any type of jigsaw or crossword puzzle. She also enjoyed spending time on knitting, needlepoint and cross stitch crafts.

Survivors include four children, Mark (Lisa) Peterson, New Port Richey, Florida, Mary Peterson, Rochester, Minnesota, Mike Peterson, Galveston Island, Texas, and Paul (Barbara) Peterson, Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren, Lisa, John, Christina, Ryan, Alex, Kailee, Megan, Bailey, Bridget, Maximilian, and five great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sisters, Mathilda Marko, Dorothy Shelbelski and Theresa Weisbrod; brothers, James Shebelski and Edwin Shebelski.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

John Stubbe

John Stubbe, 52, Wausau, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born June 20, 1966, in Wausau, son of Edward and Margaret (Mroczenski) Stubbe of Wausau. On Aug. 12, 1989, he married Christine Wiesner in Appleton. She survives.

John was a 1984 graduate of Wausau West High School. He currently was co-owner and operator of T & E Tree Surgery, Inc., Wausau. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed attending music concerts, golfing, fishing (especially his Canada fishing trips with his brother and friends) and spending time with his family and friends, whether it was going up to the family cottage or hanging out in the backyard enjoying cookouts and campfires. He was a member of the Wausau Curling Club and a Youth Softball Coach. During his coaching years, John had the privilege of coaching his daughter and team at the Babe Ruth World Series held in New Jersey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Chris Stubbe, Wausau; three children, Ashley Stubbe (Brandon Bushey) Wausau, Jeremy Stubbe (Katie Brossard) Janesville and Nick Stubbe (Morgan Treu), Wausau; his parents, Edward and Margaret; his mother-in-law, Irma Wiesner, Menasha; three siblings, Jeff (Becky) Stubbe, Wausau, Jane Sharma, Orlando, Florida, and Jill Sickler (Rick Matz), Ringle; two brothers-in-law, Dar (Brenda) Wiesner, Kaukauna, and Dan (Lucia) Wiesner, DePere; six nieces and nephews, Brad, Amber, Michael, Alan, Grace and Katie; and his “Brother” Eric Betts, Wausau.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Stubbe; and his father-in-law, Bill Wiesner.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A celebration of John’s life will continue at 5 p.m. with food and drinks at Trails End, 3901 Sherman Road, Wausau.

Memorials may be directed to John’s family to go toward future scholarship funds.

Vicky Gartley

Vicky Gartley, 62, of Wausau passed away on Tuesday, Aug, 14, 2018. She was born on May 3, 1957, in Waukegan, Ilinois. On Feb. 19, 1977, she married Edward Gartley in Waukegan, Illinois.

Vicky and Edward spent numerous years living in Waukegan, Kenosha and Burlington before moving to Wausau. Vicky enjoyed taking care of her many rescue dogs, taking trips around Wisconsin and spending time with family. She also had a love of Adidas clothing, always wearing her matching Adidas shoes with her outfits.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Edward; daughter, Melinda (Nathan) Pauls; granddaughters, Savannah and Skylar; brother, James Casteel; and sisters Tinker Casteel and Betty Thomas; sister in-law, Cathy (Larry) Dluhos; and, her beloved pet, Shorty.


Myron “Mike” Kleiber

Myron “Mike” Kleiber was called home to our lord God Jehovah, on Aug. 12, 2018. Mike was a true warrior,  fighting a battle with cancer. Myron passed peacefully with his blessing of a wife, Julie, by his side.

Mike’s favorite Bible verse was John 5: 28-29.

Myron John Kleiber was born Jan. 3, 1941, to the late John and Lila (Scott) Kleiber, Wausau. Preceded in death by one sister, Mike was a super fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, collecting memorabilia and attending baseball games, spending time with his family, traveling to 50s/60s music venues with his loving wife, Julie. Mike will be deeply, sadly missed by his family.

Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julie (Buss) Kleiber, one brother Jim (Louis) Kleiber, New London, Wisconsin. Myron has three children, Becky (Montana) Graham, Waupaca, Wisconsin,, Brad (Jojo) Kleiber, Jefferson, Wisconsin,, Vicki (Chip) Saari, Waupaca, Wisconsin, eight grandchildren Brandi Kleiber, Dalaine Kleiber , Cody Sirny, Zack Sirny, Jacob Grassl, Rebecka Graham, Clayton Kleiber and Liza Kleiber. ( Mike was affectionately known as Baseball Grandpa.) He also is survived by twp great grandchildrenMadison Sirny, and Caydon Sirny, three nephews, Jimmy (Mary Jo) Kleiber, John (Kathy) Kleiber and Lawrence (Ann) Kleiber, along with many more nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will have a small memorial ceremony held at Julie’s home, 505 Lazy Acre Road, Wausau, Wisconsin, 54981, on Saturday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. Flowers and cards may be sent to Julie Kleiber’s home address.
