WAUSAU – Wausau Pilot and Review will launch comprehensive local prep sports coverage for four Wausau-area schools beginning in November, thanks to a partnership with Central Wisconsin Sports.
Coverage will initially feature all Wausau East, Wausau West, Newman Catholic and D.C. Everest High School sports including girls and boys basketball, hockey, swimming and more.
“Since our launch in early 2017, we’ve been hearing steadily from readers who want more coverage of their favorite local sports teams,” said Shereen Siewert, founder and publisher of Wausau Pilot and Review. “We’re incredibly excited about this partnership and we know it’s just one more way to connect our readers with the community we live in.”
Wausau Pilot and Review is a nonprofit, independent, online publication that focuses on local, rather than regional or statewide, news and offers in-depth public service reporting in the community.
Central Wisconsin Sports was launched in 2009 by president, founder, and owner Brian Kalish as a way to combine three things he loved: writing, sports, and the outdoors. Over the next few years, head writers Scott Stankowski and David Keech joined Brian’s team, which allowed the company to expand its coverage of sports throughout Portage and Wood counties.
In addition to game reports, coverage will include in-depth player interviews, video highlights and much more.
“CWS is eager to bring our unique brand of sports coverage to the Wausau area in partnership with Wausau Pilot and Review,” Kalish said. “It goes without saying that high school athletics are woven into the fabric of this community, and we look forward to providing readers with comprehensive, in-depth stories and features.”
The Wausau Pilot and Review/CWS partnership will focus on audience participation. Followers will have a chance to interact with journalists and area athletes by commenting on stories, submitting questions, taking polls and participating in a highly interactive social media experience.
